During January 2007 we wrote to residents and publicised that due to their anti-social behaviour a Council Tenant within Means Drive had been issued with a Notice of Seeking Possession.
This Tenant subsequently left their home and gave up their Tenancy prior to legal action being commenced.
Killingworth Sector Community Beat Team and Housing Services are pleased to further confirm that within the past week a Council Tenant from Attlee Close who had been associated with criminal and anti-social behaviour has now left their property and moved away from the area.
We wish to reassure residents that Housing Services and Northumbria Police are therefore continuing to work in close partnership to identify a minority of persons causing nuisance and annoyance on your estate.
In the past few months legal action against families in North Tyneside whose behaviour is unacceptable has resulted in several evictions, and more are set to follow. Action has also been taken against private occupiers.
North Tyneside Council and Northumbria Police are committed to making full use of new powers aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour. In recent cases Anti-Social Behaviour Injunctions with Power of Arrest have been awarded against individuals that has prevented these persons from entering the street in which they live. Persons have also received prison sentences fro breaching these orders.
Furthermore over 200 youths and adults have signed Acceptable Behaviour Agreements. Persons who breach these orders could be evicted and/or served with an Anti-social Behaviour Order.
Nuisance behaviour includes loud music or other noise, shouting and arguing, name calling, racial harassment, door slamming, offensive or drunken behaviour, youths throwing stones at people and their property, rubbish dumping, playing ball games in a way that causes nuisance to others, not keeping animals under control, not looking after your garden.
The Council and the Police are determined to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy peace and quiet in their homes and neighbourhood and we will take whatever action that is necessary to make that happen. The use of covert CCTV cameras will be used to help us identify the troublemakers.
If you are being subjected to noise and nuisance, or harassment it is important that you tell us so we can take action, you can do this by contacting your Housing Patch Office on 200 7400. You should also telephone the Police on 2146555 and ask for extension 63437 a confidential telephone number.
Alternatively, you can complete the diary sheet enclosed with this letter (giving as much information as possible) and send it to your Housing Patch Team at the above address.
