The Burradon and Camperdown Forum(“The Forum”) maintained its commitment to arrange community events for the benefit of the retired members of the village in 2018. A Summer day trip to Scarbrough and a visit to Carlisle and Gretna was organised at Christmas.
A group of elderly residents who were unable to attend the day trips visited the Theatre Royal’s matinee performance of the Christmas Pantomime Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In the region of 100 pensioners enjoyed the three trips in 2018.
It is the Forum’s intention to arrange two trips during the Summer 2019 and a visit to a special festive event in December 2019. The Forum was invited to submit an application for funding to a local foundation and hopefully the funds will be secured in order that the programme of events 2019 may be finalised in the near future.
The Forum wishes to express its deep and sincere appreciation to the Sir James Knott Trust, The Tyne & Wear Community Foundation and the Squires Foundation for contributing the funds for the 2018 pensioner trips and excursions. The positive comments which the Forum receives from the pensioners following the trips demonstrates the true value of the events and the positive effect on the lives of the retired residents.
