North Tyneside In Bloom

2007 Winner

Members of the Burradon & Camperdown Forum attended the inaugural meeting of the Northumbria in Bloom 2008 competition on 18 February 2008.

The notice of the meeting was a timely reminder that in a secluded corner of Burradon a double winner of the North Tyneside in Bloom had been gently and quietly cultivated.

Mr Malcolm Scott, Quarry Cottages, Burradon won both the Large Garden and Conservation/Wildlife Garden category.

Malcolm has toiled for many years transforming a bleak landscape into a fertile oasis packed with a wide variety of flora which the local animals and insects appear to appreciate.

The land adjoining the garden is to be cleared and planted which will increase the variety of plants.

Malcolm’s garden is open to the public for one day during the summer and the event raises funds for overseas charities which he supports. We will provide further details in due course.

We wish to belatently congratulate Malcolm on his wonderful achievement and we hope he repeats his success in the 2008 North Tyneside in Bloom competition.
