The Burradon & Camperdown Forum(“The Forum”) has worked on behalf of all sections of the local community, especially the village’s pensioners, during the past 20 years and has raised a sum in the region of £500,000 for a range of community projects to improve local amenities and opportunities for residents.

The Forum has developed excellent relationships with the other groups in the village also dedicated to supporting elderly residents of the community; pensioner’s luncheon club, coffee morning, bingo, art club and bowling club, securing funding for new equipment and activities for the groups.

In particular, the Forum is pleased with the success of the pensioner’s annual Summer and Christmas trips and the visits to the Christmas Pantomime at the Theatre Royal for disabled residents. The reaction and comments received from the pensioners demonstrate the incredibly positive effect that the organised activities had on all of their lives.

Although the Forum has received many compliments and appreciation from the local community, it is vitally important to recognise the incredible generosity of the trusts and foundations which donate the funds which enable the Forum to organise the pensioner activities.

In 2017, the pensioners visited Kendal, Cumbria during the Summer and York Christmas Market in December and attended the Peter Pan Pantomime at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle and it was only possible with the generous donations from the following organisations:

  • Entek Limited
  • Greggs Foundation
  • Freemasons of Northumberland
  • The Sir James Knott Trust
  • R W Mann Trust
  • Hadrian Trust
  • Sterling Pharma Solutions Limited
  • The Banks Group

The Forum and the local community is hugely indebted and sincerely appreciates the generosity and support of the donors which helps the most disadvantaged members of our community.

In the near future, The Forum will endeavour to raise further funds to organise similar trips and activities for the community in 2018 and any resident of pensionable age wishing to participate in the activities is requested to contact Kathy Hayes at either the luncheon club on Tuesday mornings or the Friday coffee morning, at Kirkdale Court, Burradon.
